Please read our FAQs fully, particularly the Recycling rules and Check-out Guide
What time can I arrive at the property? 4pm
What time must I leave the property? 10am
This allows our cleaner to prepare the apartment between guests, especially for same-day change overs.
We appreciate that you may arrive in Bosa earlier on the day. If you give us some notice, messaging us in good time, we can coordinate to see if you can check-in earlier or at least drop your bags off in the entrance hallway until your official check-in.
Please let us know, via the Airbnb messaging portal and as soon as conveniently possible, your estimated time of your arrival and the best contact phone number to reach you on the day.
We will arrange for someone to meet you at or near the house to welcome you and give you keys to the apartment. We usually organise this via WhatsApp to co-ordinate this and it means that if the ETA time changes for any reason, you can easily let us know on the day.
Bring your passport! It is a legal requirement in Italy for us to register all guests' personal details and identity documents with the authorities within 24 hours of your check-in.
Before leaving we ask that you please:
Strip beds and leave linen and towels on the beds
Turn off the Air Con
Ensure all doors and windows are shut
Leave the house clean and tidy
Split any remaining recycling into the correct bins or bags and leave in the entrance corridor of the bedroom ‘Baciato Dal Sole’
Please leave all keys on the table of the apartment when you leave, so that we can find them easily
Thank you so much!
We have fast fibre broadband:
Wi-Fi password: bosasamosa
The walls and ceiling are very thick as it’s an old house so there are actually 3 Wi-Fi modems in the house, one on each floor. If your connection is weak, try another network using the same password.
Occasionally, the whole town loses connection for a short time - we’re not sure why but it usually starts to work again quite quickly.
Your apartment has an air con unit that provides both cooling and heating as required. You should find a remote control nearby. If the air con is not responding, you may need to turn on the switch near the unit.
Press ‘on’ using the remote control.
Press Mode: select Auto (A). The system will automatically determine the best mode of operation.
Press Eco: Select to save our bills and the planet.
Press Fan Speed: Set desired speed.
Press Temp: Set desired temperature. Recommend 25ºC when it is hot and 20ºC when it is cold.
If Auto mode is not satisfactory, press Mode and select icicle icon to cool and Sun icon to heat room.
Please don’t leave the Air Con on when you are not in the apartment. Help the planet and please do us the courtesy of avoiding unnecessarily high bills.
The electrics should be switched on for you before you arrive.
However, for your info, the meter and fuse box is on the ground floor, on the right beside the front door. You need to slightly lift up the white panel to remove the cover for access.
Please note that the electricity, whilst perfectly safe, can be temperamental because the historical town is serviced by a lower wattage electricity supply than we’re used to in northern Europe. It is the same all over Bosa so it isn't just our house!
The water heater should be turned on prior to your arrival. If not, just turn it on and give it about an hour to warm up.
1st floor studio apartment 'Dolce Far Niente': The switch is above the mirror in the bathroom.
Top floor apartment 'Ses Illetes': The wall switch is just inside the door of the bathroom that is adjacent to the second bedroom called 'La Chiesetta'. The wall switch is labelled clearly. To use the washing machine, you will have to turn the water on by turning the lever on the pipe at the back of the machine.
One note about the water supply. Apparently, it can be switched off completely if there is a drought. It has never happened when we’ve been there but is not uncommon in August.
Cheap, Fresh and Environmentally-friendly Water
There is a spring water dispenser that provides both plain and fizzy water on Piazza Carmine. Water is something like 30c a litre.
You can use it at any time to fill empty water bottles - it’s super cheap and better for the environment than buying lots of plastic.
Kitchen Facilities
The fridge should be turned on for your arrival. If it’s not, just plug it in.
1st floor studio apartment 'Dolce Far Niente': The kitchen is designed for light cooking and snack making. The induction hob can be used to make pasta etc. but please be careful when using it. It is better to use it on the flat surface on the small trolley in the kitchen. Unplug when not in use.
Top floor apartment 'Ses Illetes': The oven and hob in the kitchen above are both electric. The dishwasher has a drawer at the top for cutlery (a bit confusing unless you know it’s there!). The sideboard contains big bowls and also a juicer and electric whisk.
Adaptor plugs
UK/Irish adaptor plugs can usually be found in the bedside table or sideboard drawers.
Hair dryer
There is one hairdryer for each apartment, in the bathroom.
Bedding & towels
Please do not wash the rental white sheets and towels, and don't take them to the beach - or we will be told off and fined!
Beds will be made up for your arrival. During the summer, a sheet should be sufficient as a cover. However, off-season and in the winter months, duvets will be left on the beds for you to use.
Towels come with the rental but please, take only the bright, coloured beach towels to the beach and bring them back to the house for cleaning when you’ve finished with them.
Washing machine (top floor apartment only)
To use the washing machine, you will have to turn the water on by turning the lever on the pipe at the back of the machine.
Why recycle?
Recycling is an important part of life in Sardinia and the locals are passionate about it so we ask that you follow the rules during your stay at ViaVai!
When refuse is not sorted properly and left out for collection on the designated days, it smells and poses a health risk in the summer months. We can be fined by the Council and must pay our cleaners to recycle on your behalf.
How to recycle?
Please try to recycle a little each evening. Most mornings there is a pick up of specific items - so please separate and put in the coloured bins outside the front door the night before. Don't leave it until the last day as you will not be able to recycle everything in one go. You will find the bins in the entrance to the room Baciato del Sole on the 1st floor. Instructions can also be found on wall signs in the apartment.
The evening before, please leave the relevant boxes and folded cardboard neatly outside the front of the house. Please leave the rubbish on the left as you go out of the front door.
All food waste should go in bio-degradable bags, then put into the brown box in the kitchen. When that bag is full, tie securely and transfer to the bigger brown box in the recycling area. Food waste is picked up 4 times a week.
If you forget to leave the rubbish outside or have rubbish left over at the end of your stay, please separate it into the correct categories in the bins.
Bags for recycling can be found in the kitchen and recycling area next to the recycling bins.
Types of recycled waste
Organic: Any food, anything compostable including kitchen roll; Put in bio-degradable bags, (then into brown box). Try our kitchen drawer or supermarkets stock them.
'Secco': Anything non- recyclable like sweepings. Not paper! Should only ever be a small bag of non- recyclables. Put in bags, (then into grey box).
Glass & Tin: Including coloured & broken glass, tins, tin foil, metal bottle tops, etc.
Plastic*: Including clingfilm, plastic bags, cellophane, polystyrene. Put in a plastic bag.
Paper & Cardboard*: Including tetrapak (not the plastic cap). Preferably put in cardboard box or paper bag.
*A lot of Italian packaging now has a recycling guide on it - useful for plastic and paper when you can't work out which category it is in!

Can I park outside the house?
Not recommended. ViaVai! is on the main street in Bosa's Centro Storico. It is pedestrian-only for most of the day. Check out the signs at the road entrances to find out exact times for permitted access and parking. However, we recommend not parking outside the house overnight or for any length of time.
Where else can I park near the house ViaVai! ?
Nearby. We usually find a place for free in one of the roads near Piazza Gioberti or Piazza Carmine. You may also find a spot beside the river but be careful to check restrictions, depending on the season.
It's easy to purchase a weekly ticket from the machines for about €10 or else its between €0.50 and € 1 hourly. Usually, out of season, the machines are taken away and you can park on the blue lines but always check the signs to be safe.
Be careful when parking in and around the town. Blue lines indicate paid parking. When not parking in a designated car park, it is easy to miss a no-parking sign and even the faint blue lines. Other cars parked in exactly the same place can also be misleading and if you are not careful, you could find yourself with a ticket.
What can I park near Bosa's main beach?
To park near Bosa Marina beach, you will need to purchase a ticket. There are ticket machines all along the seafront or try the shop on Via Cristoforo Colombo.
What if I get a ticket?
Pay it before you leave Sardinia. If you do get a ticket during your stay, we recommend you bring it to the Police Station to pay before leaving Sardinia to prevent any post-holiday credit card surprises.
As a short term rental host we are obliged to charge a tourist tax per guest for each overnight stay. This tax is charged by Airbnb at the time of your reservation and is paid directly to the Bosa municipality. The tax is used to support the local economy, infrastructure including services that tourists require.
For any enquiries or general questions, you can contact us (Helen or Greg) on info@holidaysardinia.com, +44 7872 464 318 or +44 7715 493 977. We will get back to you asap.
Contact us via the Airbnb portal. We aim to reply to you very quickly. If it's an emergency, a local friend keeps an eye on the place for us and can help. Again, message us in the first instance.
The A.G. Mastino Hospital of Bosa is quite a long walk up to the very top of Via Parpaglia. It may be better to call in to one of the Pharmacies in town initially for non-emergency medical help (addresses detailed above). There is generally someone on duty who can speak English and they are very helpful and knowledgeable about minor illnesses and injuries. If you do have to go to the Hospital you will find it spotlessly clean and the staff, though speaking virtually no English, both helpful and professional.Call 112 for emergencies. Crime is not exactly rife in Bosa but the Polizia Urbana are visible anyway, often on the lookout for illegal parking. The Police Station is on the Corso Garibaldi and any theft should be reported there.
